Deep Virtue 70: What It’s Like To Go Deep With God

DV 76: Pull the cord!
This is Bear Woznick with a new Deep Adventure, Deep Virtue!
You know, in Hawaii when people show up, maybe the 1st day, we talk stories about what activities they want to do. Invariably they will say, “I want to try skydiving.” But, you don’t try skydiving…you don’t try. You either do it or you don’t do it. And they realize it’s not Disneyland when you jump out of the plane. Then they start saying “What’s it like? What’s the process you go through?” Those sorts of things. I just talk stories about skydiving experiences or something, and I say, “You really want to go?” And they’ll go, “Well, yeah…I’ll do it.” So I say, “Give me your hand.” And I’ll feel the palm of their hand. And if it’s a little bit moist – it’s a little bit sweaty, then I know they will jump. I know they are thinking about this in a real way. If it’s not, then I know they’re playing around and they aren’t serious.
When you skydive there is only one thing you need to remember. It’s really easy. Pull the ripcord. If you don’t pull the ripcord, then it stays there, and it’s the rest in peace cord. It’s the other kind of ripcord.
In life it’s the same way. You only get one shot at life. It depends if the man wants to live, or wants to die – then it’s the judgement. You only have to remember one thing. Pull the ripcord. You better get it right, because you choose where you live in eternity. It’s 100% under your control – whether you open that canopy or not. So pull the ripcord in your life, open up the canopy to capture the air, the wind, the breath of the Holy Spirit. There’s nothing more beautiful than that moment when that canopy opens and you see that beautiful view.
This is Bear Woznick, and I’m challenging you to give your life to Jesus with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.

In a culture that seeks to place men in a predetermined category, Bear Woznick defies easy classification. A rare combination of serious adventure seeker, husband, father and devout Catholic, Bear’s creed, “the most radical thing you can do in life is to abandon yourself to the wild adventure of God’s will,” dynamites an opening in men’s souls to the possibilities that God has for them.
